Art practice in 2024

Just over a year ago, I decided to dedicate myself as fully as I could to creating art. The past year has seen me start teaching ceramics classes - 8 in total, plus a demonstration at Studio One Toi Tū - a fun way to pass on my skills and connect with the community. I was lucky enough to be in the last cohort of the Wayfind Creative programme run by DEPOT Artspace, where I learned practical skills to help my arts practice to thrive, as well as connected with some fabulous fellow creatives. I decided to turn my focus away from making market-ready functional ceramics and towards developing my sculptural practice, something that has been both challenging and rewarding. Sculpture was where my journey in the arts began and it fills my soul to be engaging with it again. I presented my sculptural work at a Social Club event at Objectspace, a rare opportunity for me to receive critical feedback on my art from a panel of experts and members of the public, giving me the much-needed encouragement to push my work forward. I’m very much looking forward to finding out all that 2025 has in store for me!
